 Video Description

  1. Description: I chose to make an offset half fold for my basketball training facility. This brochure is to stand out and attract basketball players and teams above all other training facilities. Using a sleek and professional look for my design i am trying to show that this company is and has the best to offer athletes.
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): To accomplish this project i first used Illustrator using vector graphic shapes to create my logo. I already had the colors i wanted so that wasn’t an issue. I also did a mock-up by folding and measuring paper so that i new where the fold were going to need to go.
I then organized the layout to the way i saw would be the best.
I gained all of the text from my own thought and created a word document to make sure i had enough text.
Finally i gathered some images from the internet and edited some in Photoshop that needed it and composed my brochure to my liking.
  3. Message: My message for my brochure is to attract all basketball players who seek to increase their skills and do it at the elite level, have pro and semi pro scouts watching in a competitive and professional atmosphere.
  4. Audience: The audience that I am trying to appeal to is the sports world; more specifically the basketball world. Kids from 7th grade to about 23. Both individual players and teams are welcome to come join and train at our facility and we want anyone who love basketball to come and join us.
  5. Top Thing Learned: The top thing that i actually learned was how to make something stand out but be simple. It is so key when looking at a wall of brochures to make yours stand out and look the most appealing.

Project 3 Photodesign

ColtenWhatcott-P3Photodesign-Baseball

  • Description: This photo design project uses the principle of depth and clarity vs. something being out of focus. I chose this picture because i really like baseball and i felt it would be a good picture. I chose the color scheme based off of the hat and added the baseball being somewhat of a neutral color with the red for the seams.
  • Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I first came up with the color scheme from the colors of the hat. Then took the picture so that the hat would be out of focus and the ball super in focus.

Flierproject1.2

Description: This flier is to promote the upcoming Graduate leadership conference. It consists of the date, time, and location along with the title of the conference and the hosting companies logo and email address.

Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used both Adobe Indesign and Adobe Illustrator to construct this flyer. I acquired the pictures and text from the given links on the Ilearn website and started by pasting everything into my Indesign pasteboard to see what i had to work with. I used many tools including the pen tool, gradient swatch tool, rectangle tool, rectangle frame tool, text tool, and the selection tool. I started by placing the picture i had chosen and then placed and aligned the text up with the title. I then created the gradient shapes and transferred them from Adobe Indesign and place everything as i had planned and been critiqued too.

Message: The message of this flier is to invite and inform the graduating students of an upcoming conference. It is to be youthful being college-age friendly and easy to read.

Audience: The audience that this flier is trying to work with is graduating college students who are looking for leadership roles after having graduated.

Top Thing Learned: The top thing that i have learned in producing this project is to really pay attention to not trapping whitespace. There were many draft before i got an even flow with the text and obviously didn’t trap the whitespace.

Title Font Name & Category: Title is Brush Script Std and is a decorative font.

Copy Font Name & Category: The body copy and any other text beside the jpeg of the logo is a san serif type the font is Minion Pro.
